What inspired the story behind Fixated?
Fixated was inspired by a friendship break up that I was going through.
How did you approach directing such a complex short film?
The key is to have an amazing team around you that supports you and believe in your vision. We shot this short film in one day. It was defiantly a challenge and I could not have did it without my amazing team.
What challenges did you face in balancing your roles as both writer and director?
To be honest I didn’t really face any challenges with balancing taking on the role of write and director which is such a blessing.
What does winning Best Short Film and Best Director mean to you?
Winning means a lot to me especially as an independent film maker. It feels amazing to have
your hard work seen and appreciated.
How did the cast and crew contribute to the film’s success?
This was the best cast that I could have ever asked for. They worked so hard and they came to
set ready to work. The crew was amazing and they really worked hard to help bring my vision
to life.
Can you share a memorable moment during the production process?
At the end of the night. I looked around at my cast and crew and I just felt so blessed. All these people believed and helped bring my vision to life.
What message do you hope audiences take away from Fixated?
I hope the audience takes a look at the people around them and make sure that they are people who genuinely loves them for all the right reasons. Sometimes to people you allow into your life can very much cost you your life.
How do you approach storytelling in a short format?
I take things that have happened to me and my life and I create a story out of it. The overall goal with each film is to inspire the next person and create a story worth remembering.
What’s next for you after Fixated?
Right now I’m working on writing a series to hopefully be able to pitch some networks in the upcoming future.
